From YouTube to your smartphone — popular virtual YouTuber idol Kizuna Ai is heading to the hit smartphone game Azur Lane in an upcoming collaboration. As a way to celebrate this event, she uploaded a new video last week which featured her very first trip to an aquarium. Visual art for her ship girl design has also been revealed.
The event will is scheduled to begin from April 26 to May 16 and will be released for both the English and Japanese versions of Azur Lane.
Azur Lane continues to dominate and still one of the most popular smartphone games to date. This side-scrolling shoot ‘em up video game was released in 2017 for both iOS and Android in China, then later released in Japan. Its English version was officially launched to the public on August 16, 2018.
The game lets you craft and obtain ship girls which are named and based on the warships used in World War II. You complete missions, gather items, complete special quests, and level-up your ship girls. There are some limited events where you can get a rare ship and items especially in collaboration events like the upcoming one with Kizuna Ai.
This isn’t the first time that Azur Lane had a collaboration with other franchises. In fact, one of the collaborations they’ve done that got a lot of people previously excited last year was their collaboration with Wargaming’s popular online game, World of Warships. In World of Warships, seven characters from Azur Lane were available as Unique Commanders namely Aurora (voiced by Marie Miyake), Belfast (Yui Horie), Cleveland (Saya Horigome), Enterprise (Yui Ishikawa), Admiral Hipper (Yuri Yamoka), Hood (Atsuko Tanaka), and Nelson (Yuki Kuwahara).
Experimental ships in World of Warships were also available during the collaboration event in Azur Lane. Some names of the ships that were available to recruit were Monarch, Saint Louis, Neptune, Izumo, Ibuki, and Roon.
If you’re both a fan of Kizuna Ai and Azur Lane then be sure not miss this limited collaboration event. Time to get those resources and luck ready. Also, don’t forget to have fun!
