A teaser trailer for the upcoming third season of Uma Musume Pretty Derby (Horse Girls Pretty Derby) has been unveiled. The trailer looks back, showcasing some events in a sepia tone, then pivots to two of the principal characters, Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond. These two pretty horse girls race on as they look to the future.
Season 3 will debut sometime in 2023.

Horse Girls Race to the Finish
Uma Musume Pretty Derby is a multimedia franchise starring horse girls bearing the names of actual, real-world race horses. This anime girl-themed series is pretty safe for people to enjoy and to even fawn over the waifu horse girls since they only have horse ears and tails. It’s for people who (like me) think centaurs are too horse-like and for people who (not like me) think mermaids are pushing it.
In Uma Musume, great racehorses from another world are reborn as horse girls with a strong urge to race toward their personal goals. The best of these girls travels to Tokyo’s Tracen Academy to become the best of the best for fame, fortune, and idol status.
Season 1 of the anime focused on Special Week, a high school horse girl from the country who had just transferred to Tracen Academy to keep a promise she made to her mother to become the best horse girl in Japan. Season 2 starred Tokai Teio as she strove to become a great racehorse girl. Like her real-world counterpart, she suffered multiple injuries during the season. Season 3 looks to keep Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond on the screen as the starring horse girls.
Uma Musume Pretty Derby Origins
Uma Musume Pretty Derby was created by Cygames. Its first iteration, a manga series titled Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Haru Urara Ganbaru!, written by Huan Yu, also known as ZECO, and Katsumi Nakayama, ran from May 8th, 2016, to September 11th, 2016, in a total of ten chapters. The series starred Haru Urara as the leading horse girl.
