Fans of Too Cute Crisis, known in Japan as Kawaisugi Crisis, have much to look forward to in April 2023 when the anime adaptation is set to premiere. The story follows Liza Luna, an alien invader from another world. Like Lum herself, Liza is as powerful as she is cute.
Liza comes from a race of beings from the Azatos empire that are so powerful, they’ve already conquered other worlds. Earth is their newest target, and Liza goes to investigate the third rock from the Sun in person as part of a survey team. Her initial findings declared that Earth was entirely too primitive and declared that the planet should be destroyed. However, Liza comes across a cat café known as Nyanday, and decides that the cats are too cute to suffer that fate. In fact, cats are so precious and rare that they could not be found on any other planet in the known universe. Liza halts her invasion plans in favor of studying not only the cats but other animals as well, thus the titular Too Cute Crisis begins. She settles on Earth with an American Curl named Yozora, who wants Liza to pamper him.
A trailer for Too Cute Crisis was released, showing eager fans how the power of cuteness can bring a powerful invading force of aliens to a halt. Yozora and the other cats quickly shock Liza with their cuteness, thus saving the world.
The official Twitter account for Too Cute Crisis also released a key visual.
The power of cute cats in Too Cute Crisis has been saving the Earth ever since the original manga — written and illustrated by Mitsuru Kido — was first published, on October 4th, 2019, and they continue to work their magic on our would-be destroyers today. Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine has been publishing the series, and it currently boasts six tankōbon volumes as of October 2022.
SynergySP is adapting the manga into anime form, with Pony Canyon taking care of the music to accompany the cats and other cute animals charming the invading alien force.
