Many gamers want to live in their favorite video game worlds. Since that can’t happen (yet), we make do with anime and manga series to live vicariously through lucky isekai protagonists. Our newest lucky soul enjoyed an unquestioned reign of terror in an entire MMORPG. That became boring, so he worked with other gamers to stage a revolution. We’ll see what happens to the former ruler when A Wild Last Boss Appeared! (Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta!) premieres sometime in October 2025.
Firehead and YahaKo released the original A Wild Last Boss Appeared! light novel from February 15th, 2016, to April 15th, 2019. Earth Star Entertainment published all nine volumes in the Earth Star Novel imprint.
A Wild Last Boss Appeared! Cast
The isekai protagonist, a new friend, and an old friend are as follows:
- Lufas Maphaahl — Ami Koshimizu (Yang Xiao Long from RWBY: Ice Queendom). A top-ranked gamer who once ruled the digital world.
- Dina — Yuri Usui (Rie Maruboshi from Puniru Is a Cute Slime). A mysterious girl who greeted Lufas in the Maphaahl Tower.
- Benetnasch — Satomi Akesaka (Akasaka Misato from Uma Musume Pretty Derby). One of the original Seven Heroes, the Vampire Queen, and Lufas’s friend.

After an Age of Conquest, A Wild Last Boss Appeared!
The player behind Lufas Maphaahl ruled the land of Mizgarz with absolute power. The popular MMORPG Exgate Online boasted of a “War” gameplay element that allowed players to take over land and declare war to expand their territory. Lufas — known as “The Black-Winged Conqueror” — was a bit too good at “War.” She controlled it all, and no new players could even use the feature. Lufas gathered his friends — other high-ranked players — to discuss the matter. They all agreed to write a good story where the Seven Heroes band together to defeat the boss and free the land.
The gamer didn’t want to leave his favorite game behind, so he logged in the next day. A new message appeared, given by the in-game goddess, Alovenus. She gave him a special offer to play “a new role.” The gamer agreed and entered the game itself as his female avatar, Lufas Maphaahl. Along with her stunning physique, he inherited all her goddess-like abilities. A human king, his mage, and his soldiers cowered before him. Her reputation precedes him, even after 200 years.
