Originally set to air in October 2020, we have a brand new premiere month for the upcoming second season of The Quintessential Quintuplets, which is officially (and annoyingly) titled The Quintessential Quintuplets ∬.
In a report which hit the Internet on Tuesday, September 29th, it was revealed that the new season will premiere in January 2021. To celebrate this announcement, a brand new promotional video was released highlighting just some of the antics that the characters will be getting into.
As previously reported, both the director and animation production studio will change. Taking over for Satoshi Kuwabara will be director Kaori. Animation production is shifting from Tezuka Productions to Bibury Animation Studios. The series composition will continue to be handled by Keiichiro Ohchi. They announced no major changes for the voice cast, luckily, but this is still quite the shakeup for fans of the series to get used to.
Originally a manga series created by Negi Haruba, which launched in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2017, the series has been collected in fourteen volumes with the most recent hitting store shelves in Japan in April 2020. The series is published in English by Kodansha USA who describes the story as:
Five girls who want to do anything but study, and their tutor: a high school boy who’s got book smarts and not much else. Futaro Uesugi took the tutoring gig because he was desperate for cash, but when his students — the five beautiful daughters of a wealthy businessman — find five times the excuses to slack off, what can he do?! At this rate, the sisters won’t graduate, so if he wants to get paid, Futaro must think of a plan to suit each of them … Which feels hopeless when five out of five of them think he’s a loser!
The anime adaptation of The Quintessential Quintuplets first started airing with animation produced by Tezuka Productions in January 2019 and ran for a single cour. A second season was announced to be in production in May 2019.
