The war between humans and demons ended after the great hero Gram defeated the Demon Lord Veltol Velvet Velsvalt. He awakens 500 years later to see his world changed in truly inexplicable ways. Only one of his companions remains loyal to him, and both she and her cute human friend plan to help him regain his power. We’ll see what becomes of this idyllic scenario when Demon Lord 2099 (Maou 2099) premieres on October 12th, 2024.
Daigo Murasaki and Kureta released their Demon Lord 2099 light novel on January 20th, 2021. Fujimi Shobo has since published three volumes in the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint.
The newly awakened Demon Lord and two of his cute allies are as follows:
- Veltol Velvet Velsvalt — Satoshi Hino (Noritoshi Kamo from Jujutsu Kaisen). The Demon Lord awakened centuries after his defeat. His power and popularity have since waned.
- Machina Soleige — Miku Ito (Frenika from Sword Art Online: Alicization). One of Veltol’s Six Dark Peers who revived him in the present day. She controls the fire element.
- Takahashi — Hana Hishikawa (Aki Sizuha from Touhou Danmaku Kagura). A skilled hacker joins Veltol and Machina to help them restore Veltol’s power.

Rise From Defeat Demon Lord 2099
The Demon Lord Veltol Velvet Velsvalt and his forces waged war against the humans over 500 years ago. The human hero Gram stood against Veltol and won their skirmish. The war ended, but the chaos and confusion of the era persisted. The magical world Alneath merged with modern-day Earth in an event known as the “Fantasion.” Conflict and prejudice marred the world for many years after. Nations rose and fell until a time of peace arrived.
Machina Soleige — Veltol’s Six Dark Peers — revived her lord centuries after his defeat in 2099. His home is now known as Shinjuku, where Alneath’s magic merged with Earth’s technology as “magineering.” Veltol’s magic has diminished, and only Machina still sees him in a positive light. Machina and her hacker friend Takahashi will support Veltol as he resumes his campaign to take over the world.
