The Klutzy Witch, a story about Fuka, a witch who makes more mistakes than others, is finally getting an anime adaptation. Based on children’s books, the movie seems to take a more serious tone, as indicated when it goes from Fuka accidentally making a large boulder to facing a great, world-ending witch of legend. The Klutzy Witch will conjure up some magic in theaters on March 31st. So until then, fans and potential viewers will have to content themselves with the trailer Production I.G. made.
Poplar Publishing, the company that publishes the novels, also has its own home page for the books.
A Klutzy Witch Fights to Save the World
The Klutzy Witch (Rakudai Majo or Failure Witch) follows the story of Yuka, the daughter of a queen of Silver Castle. Though her world is full of people who can perfectly manipulate the arcane arts, Fuka is more prone to incredible feats of magic accidents. With her friends Princess Karin of Green Castle and Prince Chitose of Blue Castle, Fuka tries to live up to her potential while going on fantastical adventures.
The movie based on the series, The Klutzy Witch: Fuka and the Dark Witch (Rakudai Majo: Fūka to Yami no Majo), sees Fuka spirited away to another place by the power of the Dark Witch, who is sealed beneath the castle. The seal on the Black Crystal Bracelet is broken, releasing the Dark Witch that once tried to destroy the world. Fuka unites with her friends to save the world.
The Klutzy Witch Origins
The Klutzy Witch first cast its spell as a children’s novel series written by Satoko Narita and illustrated by Senno Enaga. Poplar Publishing began sending the series out for print in October 2006 and has since published seventeen novels.
