We have yet another “the strongest person hides their talent” series on the horizon. It’s not one of those “he’s strong, but he doesn’t know it” series. The eighth imperial prince, Arnold, pretends to be weak and feckless while enjoying the free life of an adventurer. He has no real interest in the throne, but a succession war threatens the two family members he cares about. We’ll see him take on different battlefields when The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for the Throne (Saikyo Degarashi Oji no Anyaku Teii Arasoi: Muno wo Enjiru SS Rank Oji wa Koi Keishosen wo Kage kara Shihai suru) premieres sometime in July 2026.

Tanba released the original The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for the Throne novel on the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro from February 3rd, 2019, to February 4th, 2024. Yuunagi provided the art for the light novel adaptation, which debuted on September 1st, 2019. Kadokawa Shoten has since published sixteen volumes in the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint. Yukino Amagai provided the art for the manga adaptation, which debuted on December 25th, 2019. Kadokawa Shoten has since published nine volumes in Young Ace Up.

The twin princes and the princess-like maiden (not shown) are as follows:
- Arnold Lakes Adler — Yuma Uchida (Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen). Arnold’s infamy as a dull prince hides his peerless strength.
- Leonard Lakes Adler — Kikunosuke Toya (Denji from Chainsaw Man). Leonard’s kindness matches his administrative and magical skills.
- Finne von Kleinert — Manaka Iwami (Aqua from Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 3: Bonus Stage). The emperor himself hailed Finne as the most beautiful girl in the empire.

The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for the Throne from the Shadows
The unexpected death of the Ardrasia Empire’s Crown Prince has caused a war of succession among the emperor’s remaining children. Three great factions have risen to become the emperor’s successor: the Second Prince Eric, the foreign minister with a keen mind, the Third Prince Gordon, a general full of bloodlust, and the Second Princess, a mistress of magic who revives forbidden ancient magic. A fourth faction led by the Eighth Prince Leonard has emerged thanks to his ties with a beloved general who recently passed under suspicious circumstances.
The Seventh Prince Arnold never showed much interest in the succession war. He was content to live a double life as one of the five SS-Rank adventurers, wielding his ancient magic to live a free life. However, the next emperor might cut down his rivals, putting his life, as well as his twin brother and mother, in danger. Arnold now works behind the scenes to put Leonard on a throne. His first step is to gain new allies, including the most beautiful girl in the empire, Finne, and her father, Duke Kleinert.
