The first trailer for the upcoming THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls U149 anime adaptation has appeared, setting the stage for these girls to achieve their dreams. Led by a producer who’s fresh to the industry, these girls, whose heights are under 149cm, will have to give it their all. Fans of THE iDOLM@STER will have to wait until the estimated April 2023 premiere date, but this trailer should tide you over until then.

The Cinderella Idols
THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls U149 is another entry in the long-running iDOLM@STER series. Like every other series, a producer works with a team of idols to reach stardom. This producer works with a group of girls in the Third Entertainment Division, which is also called “U149” due to all of the girls being of a shorter stature. They’re meant to work in an abandoned storage office of their unnamed production company, but that doesn’t dampen their spirits.
These Cinderella girls are divided into three different types. Momoka Sakurai and Koharu Koga are considered the “Cute” type of girls, Arisu Tachibana, Haru Yuuki, and Chie Sasaki are considered “Cool” compared to the others, and Miria Akagi, Risa Matoba, Kaoru Ryuzaki, and Nina Ichihara are apparently filled with “Passion.” They were left idle in the abandoned office, training and waiting for their debut, but they heard nothing from the company until their new producer arrived, someone who was also on the short side, and who was completely new to the idol scene. However, their cuteness, coolness, and their passion should give them the edge they need to truly become Cinderella girls.
THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls U149 Origins
The Idolmaster is a large multimedia franchise that began in 2005, spanning multiple games, anime, and manga that all revolve around a producer raising and training a group of idols to perform to the best of their abilities.
THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls began as a gacha game on mobile devices. The game launched on November 28th, 2011, and it set to conclude services on March 30th, 2023. THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls U149 is a spin-off manga starring a different set of idols than the ones found in the game itself. This web manga was written and illustrated by Kyowno, and it was published by Cygames’s Cycomics outlet. Publishing began on October 15th, 2016, and the series continues to this day.
