The appropriately named Villager spends his days doing odd jobs and working in his late father’s item shop to keep things afloat. His fortunes (literal and figurative) change when he “saves” a strange girl who rewards him in kind. We’ll see him begin his reign as the new Demon Lord when The Fledgling Demon Lord’s Starter Shop (Sudachi no Maojo) premieres sometime in January 2027.

Makoto Morishita released the original The Fledgling Demon Lord’s Starter Shop manga series on October 6th, 2021. Kodansha published twelve volumes in Monthly Shonen Magazine.
The Fledgling Demon Lord’s Starter Shop Cast
The shop owner and his new demon waifu are as follows:
- Villager — Reiji Kawashima (Patrick / Ricky from Shadows House). Villager is the owner of the item shop, The Nest.
- Mao — Rumi Okubo (Mem-cho from Oshi no Ko). Mao is the 776th Demon Lord.
Project No.9 will animate the anime adaptation, which has an official website and YouTube and Twitter (X) accounts to promote The Fledgling Demon Lord’s Starter Shop. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals at those sites.
The Fledgling Demon Lord’s Starter Shop and Newlywed Life
Villager runs his late father’s item shop, The Nest. Their sole claim to fame is that the legendary hero who slew the Demon Lord stopped there and bought his first item. However, the age of peace that followed the Demon Lord’s downfall made item shops such as Villager’s all but useless. He works hard to support the shop, but he’s faced a wall in what he can do to keep his father’s dream alive. His wish became all the more possible after he met a strange girl who leaped from a cliff.
Villager’s attempt at heroics ultimately ends in his own demise. The strange girl, an immortal Demon Lord, offers him a bit of her own blood to revive him (hello, Hime from Princess Resurrection). The consequences of her actions don’t become clear until a group of royal knights trashes his shop and insults the entire village. His newfound demonic power awakens, and that power summons powerful monsters to chase them out. The girl named Mao reappears and performs a marriage ceremony to crown him as the 777th Demon Lord.
