The Fable shows what happens when an assassin is too good at his job. A man wields his gun with such ruthless efficiency that his list of targets has grown too large. We’ll see how he does when he has to live as a regular person when this anime series premieres on April 7th. Let’s enjoy the new trailer until then.
Katsuhisa Minami worked on his original The Fable manga series between November 1st, 2014, and November 18th, 2019. Kodansha published all 22 volumes in Weekly Young Magazine.
The fabled assassin and a couple of cute friends are as follows:
- Akira Sato — Kazuyuki Okitsu (Moz from Dr. Stone). Trained as an assassin from a young age, Akira can complete any mission within seconds. He was ordered to live a commoner’s life for a year.
- Yoko Sato — Miyuki Sawashiro (Raiden Shogun/Raiden Ei from Genshin Impact). Akira’s partner and skilled agent. She poses as his sister during their year-long vacation.
- Misaki Shimizu — Kana Hanazawa (Mitsuri Kanroji in Demon Slayer). An ordinary woman who works as a designer. She has a fateful meeting with Akira.
Tezuka Productions has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote The Fable. You can find additional series information and the Key Visuals there.
The Fable Lies Low Until the Heat Dies Down
The titular hitman in The Fable had a busy six years since he began his hitman work. He’s killed 71 people from the highest positions of power, from CEOs to politicians. The current year was especially active. Everyone has heard of Fable. This proved to be both a blessing and a burden. His boss issued the order to lay low in Osaka with a local yakuza gang with whom he’s affiliated.
Using new names, Akira (the assassin) and Yoko (his driver with perfect memory) must live ordinary lives in Osaka. If they rouse any suspicion or kill anyone, their own lives might be forfeit. The petty thugs who pick foolish fights might make it difficult, though.
