It’s a tale as old as time: an assassin meets a cute store clerk and retires from his violent life. He traded his guns for barcode scanners. However, it’s hard to walk away from a life of crime and death. Years after marrying and having a daughter, the assassin is tracked down by his former colleagues and enemies. We’ll see how he handles his past when Sakamoto Days premieres on January 11th, 2025.
Yuto Suzuki released the original Sakamoto Days manga series on November 21st, 2020. Shueisha has since published nineteen volumes in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The retired hitman, his wife, and his new ally are as follows:
- Taro Sakamoto — Tomokazu Sugita (Tomoyasu Chikazoku “Skeptic” from My Hero Academia). Taro is one of the most skillful hitmen in the world.
- Aoi Sakamoto — Nao Toyama (Takao and Atago from Kantai Collection). Sakamoto’s loving wife.
- Lu Xiaotang — Ayane Sakura (Orio from Pokémon Horizons: The Series). The daughter of a Chinese triad leader.
TMS Entertainment maintains a home page, a TikTok page, and a Twitter (X) page to promote Sakamoto Days. You can find additional series information and the key visuals there. Retirement hasn’t dulled his skills.
The Sakamoto Days of Retirement
Taro Sakamoto was once a peerless hitman. Nothing would stop him from fulfilling his task once he was given a target. This man may have singlehandedly filled entire graveyards. However, that life came to an end when he met Aoi. She was a cute store clerk with a strong will and boundless love. She inspired him to give up his criminal ways. Taro and Aoi began dating. He retired, married Aoi, and they had a daughter named Hana. His wife’s cooking led to him putting on a few pounds. It was supposed to be happily ever after.
Not even Taro can escape from the criminal underworld. His old “friends” and enemies found him after roughly five blissful years. Guys like the telepath Shin Asakura went to Taro’s side to protect his new life while armed men arrived to end him. Taro’s skills have not dulled a bit and stressful situations restore his slimer form so he can make the most of his exceptional skills.
Will you watch Sakamoto Days after the series premieres in January? Do you think Taro will get his happily ever after? Will Taro ever stop imagining clever ways to kill Shin so as to not freak Shin out? Let us know in the comments below.
