It’s time for you to take a Gundam into battle! The “immersive adventure” VR movie Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom puts viewers in the middle of the action. Potential viewers and pilots will need a Meta Quest 2 or 3 to watch this VR anime. Sunrise calls it an “anime,” but Epic Games’s Unreal Engine 5 handles all the animation. We’ll see Gundams launch into war from a new perspective on October 3rd, 2024.
Yoshiyuki Tomino created the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. Nippon Sunrise premiered the series on April 7th, 1979.
Gundam pilot, their friend, and their target are as follows:
- Male Protagonist — Yuki Shin (Jinn from EDENS ZERO). Female Protagonist — Atsumi Tanezaki (Pola and Zara in Azur Lane). A former Federation soldier who joined Argent Keil after they saved the protagonist’s life. They pilot the DZ-001 Delta Zayin.
- Babia Lena — Mariya Ise (Himeno from Chainsaw Man). The Argent Keil pilot who saved the protagonist. She pilots a modified JW-001 Jagd Weiss.
- Azami Meggineh — Kikuko Inoue (Palm Siberia from Hunter × Hunter). A former high-ranking Federation officer who colluded with Zeon to benefit both sides.

The Legend of Gundam Continues in Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom
The Argent Keil mercenary group has no ties to the Earth Federation or Zeon. This puts them in the perfect position to accept jobs from anyone. The Federation has become their latest client. They must make one of their own disappear before her secrets reach the public. Azami Meggineh is a former high-ranking Federation officer who colluded with the Zeon forces. Just as Argent Keil begins their mission, the Federation attacks them. Argent Keil’s ace pilot in a mysterious silver Gundam begins his counterattack.
The movie includes a mixed-reality game inside it. Players can “grab” different famous Gundams with a Meta Quest controller and take them into battle. The RX-78-2 Gundam and the RX-93 ν Gundam have been shown off so far. This is similar in concept to the .hack//Beyond the World Hybrid Blu-ray Disc. .hack fans can watch .hack//Beyond The World and play the full-scale .hack//Versus fighting game afterward. The new Gundam movie is really trying to become an immersive experience.
