Fans of classic RPGs unite, because the Suikoden II anime adaptation has a trailer! Riliu, Jowy, and Nanami grew up in the peaceful town of Kyaro in the Highland Kingdom. They’re as close as siblings, and the boys share a dream of becoming great warriors to protect their home. The Unicorn Youth Brigade finally receives orders to march out and put their newfound skills to the test. The ensuing massacre sets the stage for war and retribution, where Riliu and Jowy part ways to find their own paths in life. We’ll see what sort of heroes they become when Suikoden: The Anime (Gensou Suikoden: The Anime) premieres sometime in October 2026.

Yoshitaka Murayama’s loose adaptation of the classical Chinese novel Water Margin, Suikoden, debuted on December 15th, 1995. Developers released the sequel, Suikoden II, on December 17th, 1998.
Suikoden: The Anime Cast
The three childhood friends are as follows:
- Riliu — Toshiki Kumagai (Yuuhi Oudou from Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!). Riliu is a war orphan who fights to protect what’s left of his family.
- Jowy Atreides — Shimba Tsuchiya (Kazuyuki Konno from In/Spectre). Jowy is a brave soldier who makes difficult choices to find a path to peace.
- Nanami — Ayumi Hihara (Yaeno Muteki from Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray). Nanami is Riliu’s adopted sister and a strong soldier in her own right.

Suikoden: The Anime Retells a Terrible War
Riliu, Jowy, and Nanami grew up in the peaceful town of Kyaro in the Highland Kingdom. Jowy and Riliu trained themselves and joined the Highland Army’s Unicorn Youth Brigade, a group of young warriors who wanted to defend their kingdom. A conspiracy erupts, shattering their peaceful lives. Commander Rowd leads his own people into a massacre, a false flag operation to justify Luca Blight’s invasion of the City-States of Jowston.
Riliu and Jowy survived the attack and split up to avoid capture. Their fate leads them to a shrine where they inherit two halves of a powerful rune that will set them on opposite sides of the coming war. Riliu walks a path of light and unification, while Jowy walks a path of darkness and devastation. Riliu must unite all 108 stars of destiny while tackling the sins of the past. He must also decide how his and Jowy’s story unfolds.
