If you’re a fan of the anime series Shirobako but felt like it would’ve been better with cute boys rather than cute girls, Studio Pierrot is here to grant your wish with All Rush!! Well, kind of!
In an announcement that hit Twitter on May 14th (which surprisingly went unnoticed by almost everyone until a few days later), the famed studio revealed they are opening a brand new label called “+iro” with its first project being an online manga series called All Rush!!. The series will feature a group of bishounen working at a fictional animation production studio, Studio ONE, and tell behind-the-scenes stories of their successes and failures. It’s being marketed as “Shirobako for women” and will run on Twitter starting June 11th.
Now that we’ve met the characters, let’s meet the crew who will bring this series to life. In the announcement, +iro revealed that the manga’s character designs are being created by illustrator Uriurita. As for the story, the writing will be handled by Hinako Meguri, while Ino Kodai will provide the art.
We don’t really know much more about this project as yet, including if there are any plans to turn this series into an anime at any point in the future or how often new chapters are going to appear. It does seem telling that this announcement hit Twitter almost a week ago but was almost completely ignored by almost every blog on both sides of the Pacific until earlier this week.
That all said, I’m not going to say that I’m not looking forward to checking this series out once it gets a few chapters under its belt. I absolutely adored Shirobako and wouldn’t mind in the least to see a similar story with attractive male characters running around trying to make their anime dreams come true, at least until I can get my hands on that lovely sequel movie. That said, if this series isn’t any good then there’s just no helping that as it’s just common courtesy to meet the fans halfway.
