It’s been a while since we last saw our new favorite robot girl on Mars. Studio Bones is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their beloved studio, and they couldn’t have done a better job. Metallic Rouge has cute robot girls who transform and battle on another planet. We’ll learn more about this girl and her friend when the series premieres in January 2024. Until then, we have a new trailer with convenient camera angles and saunas.
Our titular heroine and her fun comrade are as follows:
- Rouge Redstar — Yume Miyamoto (Nika Nanaura in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury) A highly advanced android built ten years before the series began. She is naive, but she has a kind heart. Rouge has a great love of chocolate.
- Naomi Orthmann — Tomoyo Kurosawa (Rebecca in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) Rouge’s friend and her government supervisor. She appears easygoing and loves food, but Naomi is a calculating and skilled agent.
Studio Bones has set up a promotional home page and an official Twitter page for Metallic Rouge. Some behind-the-scenes information and the Key Visual can be found there.
Studio Bones Has Much to Celebrate
Bones has been working on Metallic Rouge as one way to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The studio was founded by Sunrise staff members Masahiko Minami, Toshihiro Kawamoto, and the late great Hiroshi Osaka in October 1998. They kept their working relationship with Sunrise while working on Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door. They are most known for My Hero Academia, Eureka Seven, RahXephon, Wolf’s Rain, and Angelic Layer.
Bones has maintained that some of the best talent would be bringing Metallic Rouge to life, and they weren’t kidding. Yutaka Izubuchi (Panzer World Galient, Gundam, Patlabor, and RahXephon) is working with Toshihiro Kawamoto (Cowboy Bebop, Gosick, and My Hero Academia) to create this series.
A Battlefield Dominated by Rouge
The plot details are still scarce. However, we know more about the two primary characters of Metallic Rouge. Rouge Redstar is an android constructed ten years ago. However, she appears to be much older, at seventeen. Additionally, she can consume food, and chocolate is her favorite. She’s partnered with the human woman Naomi Orthmann. Naomi is a government agent, an investigator tasked with eliminating nine androids hostile to the government. She’s also Rouge’s supervisor, but they appear fast friends. Despite her light-hearted personality, she’s a calculating woman who gathers intel to plan their next move.
