I love Strike Witches and I don’t care who knows it! This is why I’m so excited to report on this brand new promotional video for the upcoming third season, titled 501st Joint Fighter Wing Strike Witches: Road to Berlin (hereafter referred to as Strike Witches: Road to Berlin). In the new 57-second promotional video, they reveal that the new season is scheduled to premiere in October this year, along with all the cast and crew.
The new season will feature animation produced by David Production, with Kazuhiro Takamura returning from previous seasons to direct. The writing unit Striker Unit is credited with the series composition, though the scripts will be overseen by Tatsuhiko Urata. Seikou Nagaoka will also return to the franchise to compose the background music. The voice cast is staying the same as in previous seasons.
It’s hard to believe that the Strike Witches franchise has been going strong for over a decade. The first anime season aired in July 2008, which was followed by the second season in 2010, a movie in 2012, and a three-part OVA in 2014. The Strike Witches franchise has also spawned several light novels, manga, and spinoff anime adaptations over the years.
Funimation is currently streaming the series on their platform and describes the plot as:
In 1944, the world lives in fear of unidentified flying objects that even the military can’t thwart! Humanity turns its desperate eyes to the girls of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, better known as the Strike Witches. These dolls blast aliens to bits in the bat of an eyelash, and with a little magic and a whole lot of leg, the girls of the 501st are winning the war on pants — and aliens!
This is fantastic news for fans of moe fanservice series and I personally can’t wait to dig into this new one once it premieres in October!
