After being shown off several months ago, Spy Classroom has recently premiered, treating fans to a world of espionage and intrigue. Where cute and alluring girls dominate the battlefield. Perhaps studio feel was determined to show off their incredible animations for the opening and ending themes because they released the creditless versions of the theme videos via Kadokawa’s YouTube channel (they also made a playlist).
The opening theme song is titled Tōmoshibi (Light) and performed by Nonoc.
The ending theme song is titled Secret Code and performed by Konomi Suzuki.
In keeping with their trend of giving each of their lovely spies from Spy Classroom their own character video, Erna, also known by her codename Fool, has her own ending theme video. Titled Fool on the secret, it is performed by Erna’s voice actress Inori Minase.
For those out of the loop, the last intel drop (the most recent trailer) of Spy Classroom was delivered a month ago.
Spy Classroom takes place in a world where humanity realized that their weapons of war were entirely too efficient in ending lives. So the countries of the world decided to take their warfare behind closed doors. Rather than fighting out in the open with soldiers, battles are fought in the dark with spies. Espionage and intelligence are the bullets and bombs of this new age, and few are better than Klaus, the self-proclaimed “Greatest Spy in the World.“
Despite his oddities, Klaus is an efficient spy but a terrible teacher. He set up his own spy team, codenamed Lamplight, and recruited spies on the bottom rungs of their former spy schools to take on “Impossible Missions,“ missions where other units failed, thus raising alarms and making things far more difficult with a 90 percent chance of failure.
Fans of Spy Classroom will be delighted to know that the voice cast is all reprising their roles from earlier promotional videos and a voice drama.
Klaus, voiced by Yūichirō Umehara, leads Lamplight and uses the codename Bonfire. Lily, voice provided by Sora Amamiya, acts as Lamplight’s team lead and specializes in poison, using the codename Flower Garden. Grete, voiced by Miku Itō, uses the codename Dearest Daughter and specializes in disguises. Sibylla, her voice provided by Nao Tōyama, uses the codename Pandemonium and acts as the team’s thief. Monika, voiced by Aoi Yūki, uses the codename Glint and shows the most skill as a spy among her peers. Thea, voice provided by Sumire Uesaka, uses the codename Dreamspeaker and acts as the team’s negotiator. Sara, voiced by Ayane Sakura, uses the codename Meadow and specializes in animal taming and rearing. Annette, voice provided by Tomori Kusunoki, uses the codename Forgetter, and she is the team engineer, despite suffering from amnesia. Erna, voiced by Inori Minase, uses the codename Fool and has a talent for predicting terrible luck, as she suffers from ill fortune quite a bit.
Many of these spies were inspired by previous meetings with other agents who saved them from some ill fate.
Studio feel took the time to set up a home page and official Twitter account for Spy Classroom, which includes, among other things, a series of character promo videos, series lore, and art such as the key visual art below.
