If years of sportfishing have taught me anything, it’s that patience is the enemy of progress. I dislike waiting — it binds me to my earthly existence. Thankfully, the wait for Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf’s second season is almost over. The anime’s official website revealed new visuals for the upcoming season and a 2027 premiere date.
Passione, a favorite J-List studio, will return to adapt Ookami to Koushinryou: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf’s second season. Takeo Takahashi will likewise resume his post as chief director. Additional Spice and Wolf production staff includes:

Kevin Penkin, the GOAT, will compose the music for the second season. The original Spice and Wolf VAs reprised their roles: Ami Koshimizu (Holo), Jun Fukuyama (Kraft Lawrence), and Ami Koshimizu (Norah Arendt).
Studio Imagin released the original Spice and Wolf anime in January 2008. Brain’s Base and Marvy Jack released the follow-up OVA and second season in July 2009. Studio Passion released the first season of the current anime in April 2024. Crunchyroll streams the original and remake.
Spice and Wolf Deets
Ookami to Koushinryou: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf adapts Isuna Hasekura (author) and Ju Ayakura’s Spice and Wolf light novel. ASCII Media Works published the light novel. Yen Press releases the light novel in North America. The franchise includes a spin-off light novel, manga adaptation, OVAs, video games (Nintendo DS), and VR games.
Spice and Wolf follows Kraft Lawrence, a traveling merchant, and Holo, a harvest deity.
A traveling merchant measures their days by the rising and setting of the sun, and their company is the fickle breeze. But for Kraft Lawrence, those drawbacks aren’t enough to stop him. After all, if he ever wants to own a brick-and-mortar store, he has to make connections as a traveling merchant. But when he visited the town of Pasloe during their harvest festival, Lawrence made a connection he never would have imagined. Unknowingly, he picked up a harvest deity, Holo the Wise Wolf, as a hitchhiker. And like that internet meme, she offered him a trade — she’ll help him with his business, and he’ll return her to her northern home of Yoitsu. But Lawrence quickly learns that to honor his agreement, he’ll have to face scenarios most people will never experience.
