Sorcerous Stabber Orphen season 3 has finally begun, streaming to the West via Crunchyroll, and the action picks up immediately. For those who missed it, the most recent trailer highlights some action-heavy scenes and the great danger the main characters are placed in. Especially Claiomh Everlasting, who gets tangled up in some magical vines. And we’ve all seen enough hentai, and Sword Art Online, to know how dicey that situation can be.

For those who can’t bear long waits between arcs, it was announced that the current one, known as Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Chaos in Urbanrama, has begun its run on January 18th, and the next arc, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Sanctuary, will begin right away in April after Chaos in Urbanrama has concluded.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen follows the titular character Orphen on his quest to restore his older adopted sister Azalie to her proper human form. A horrid experiment transformed her into the dragon, dubbed “Bloody August,” after the incident in the town of August. Many trials and tribulations stand between Orphen and his goal, including no shortage of evil sorcerers. But he is not without allies or his own incredible magical gifts.
Sorcerous Stabber Orphen, known in Japan as Majutsushi Orphen (Sorcerer Orphen), began as a light novel series titled Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: The Wayward Journey (Majutsushi Orphen Haguretabi written by Yoshinobu Akita. The series ran from May 1994 to September 2003 and totaled twenty volumes. Mr. Akita began a couple of other light novels around that time, proving the series’s popularity. Orphen was eventually adapted to manga, which was illustrated by Hajime Sawada. The manga ran from December 27th, 1997, to February 27th, 2003, in eight volumes.
Now for the anime adaptations, and this is where things get fun. The original anime run of Sorcerous Stabber Orphen began on October 3rd, 1998, and saw two seasons with 47 episodes, with the last episode airing on March 25th, 2000. J.C.Staff handled the animation back then. Twenty years later, the new anime series, with Studio Deen taking over this time, acts as a remake of the series.
This series has seen so many entries. Author Yoshinobu Akita is a certifiable genius who struck gold decades ago.
