It’s rare for anime fans to get a second-season announcement that’s truly surprising, like the announcement for the second season of The Devil is a Part-Timer! Even rarer is a second season announcement that surprises both fans and the story’s author.
Enter Shadows House, a slice of life, supernatural manga written by author duo so-ma-to that debuted in 2018 and became an anime in April of this year. While both fans and the authors are pleased that the show is getting a second season, the authors do want fans to know that they’ll be supervising the anime’s scripts once again, while continuing to serialize the manga. It sounds like a tough task, but the authors are up for the challenge; even posting an animation on Twitter to celebrate:
#シャドーハウス TVアニメ2期 制作決定✨
1期の脚本を監修した頃は1クールだけというお話だったのですが何と続編が決まりました!

In addition to a season two announcement and very cute animation, a teaser trailer has been posted for the next season, courtesy of Aniplex’s Japanese YouTube channel.
While the ending of season one left both our characters and fans with plenty more questions than answers, it looks like season two will be more of the same, with Living Doll Emilico faced with even more danger courtesy of a robed figure, dangerous-looking adults, and all sorts of hidden dangers found within this grand, but very sooty house.
The manga isn’t currently serialized in English, but volumes can be found in Spanish, French, and Japanese currently. The first season of the anime is available to stream on Funimation. While a release date for season two of Shadows House is still forthcoming, it’s definitely the kind of anime that’s perfect for the Halloween season, not only for the mystery but for the atmosphere as well. Shadows House is for sure the type of anime you watch on a dark, dark night in a dark, dark, house just for the aesthetic alone.
The official synopsis for Shadows House can be found below:
High atop a cliff sits the mansion known as Shadows House, home to a faceless clan that pretends to live like nobles. They express their emotions through living dolls that also endlessly clean the home of soot. One such servant, Emilico, aids her master Kate as they learn more about themselves and the mysteries of the house.
