Shachou, Battle no Jikan desu! Adaptation Reveals Details

Shachibato Key Visual

Last year it was revealed that the mobile strategy RPG game Shachou, Battle no Jikan desu! (or Shachibato for short) would be getting an anime adaptation. Now we finally have some new details, including a premiere month, cast, crew, and even a promotional video!

According to a Twitter post from AIR, the series will premiere in April 2020 and features a pretty stellar line-up bringing it to life. The animation will be produced by C2C (Broken Blade, Harukana Receive, High School Fleet) with Hiroki Ikeshita (Harukana Receive episode director) sitting in the director’s chair. The series composition is going to be handled by Kenta Ihara (Saga of Tanya the Evil), character designs are being created by Keisuke Watanabe, and the music will be composed by Yukari Hashimoto (Sarazanmai, Mawaru Penguindrum).

As for who will be bringing all of these characters to life, the cast list reads as follows:

Shachibato Cast

Veteran actress Yui Horie will lead the cast as ‘Guide.’ Supporting her will be (from left to right, character romanizations via ANN): Yoshino Aoyama (Makoto), Azumi Waki (Akari), Shun Horie (Minato), Kana Ichinose (Yutoria), Sumire Uesaka (Valmi), and Taku Yashiro (Raiba).

The main story behind the game is yet another isekai. In this world, dimensional portals have opened in the sky linking the main world with numerous dungeons filled with monsters and treasures. The main character is the president of a company that hires various people from different classes (fighters, mages, rogues, etc) to explore these dungeons, do battle, and bring back the goods.

The game was launched in Japan back in October 2019 for both iOS and Android devices (it is currently unavailable in English) with the anime adaptation announcement coming just a couple of months afterward.

Personally, I’d love the chance to check out this game ahead of the show’s April premiere, but I guess I’ll just have to add it to my list of things that Japan has that I can’t have yet.
