During the debut screenings for the second compilation film of the anime adaptation of Kugane Maruyama and So-bin’s Overlord light novel series it was revealed that the 2015 anime will be receiving a second season. More info will be revealed in the future.

The visual above is for the second compilation film, Overlord: Shikkoku no Tenshi (Overlord: The Dark Warrior). The visual itself is illustrated by So-bin. Here’s main visual for the first movie, Overlord: Fushisha no Ou (Overlord: The Undead King):

There are a total of 2 compilation anime films. The first film titled Overlord: Fushisha no Ou (Overlord: The Undead King) and released in Japan on February 25, 2017. A 30-second trailer for the recap films was also revealed back in December:

Overlord is a Japanese light novel series written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. It began serialization online in 2010, before being acquired by Enterbrain. Eleven volumes have been published since July 30, 2012. A manga adaptation by Satoshi Ōshio, with art by Hugin Miyama, began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s manga magazine Comp Ace from November 26, 2014. Both the light novels and the manga are licensed in North America by Yen Press, with a release date of November 8, 2016. A 13-episode anime television series adaptation by Madhouse aired between July 7 and September 29, 2015. Two compilation anime films recapping the events from the television anime series are scheduled for release in Japan on February 25, 2017 and March 11, 2017, respectively.

Overlord synopsis:

The story begins with Yggdrasil, a popular online game which is quietly shut down one day; however, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as “the most powerful wizard.” The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) begining to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.
