Everyone’s favorite digital idol is back to brighten our screens! Gekijoban Project Sekai Kowareta SEKAI to Utaenai MIKU (Project Sekai the Movie: The Broken World and The Miku Who Can’t Sing) tells the story of a Hatsune Miku whose voice the people can’t hear. Miku will meet people who can help her shine when Project Sekai: the Miku Movie premieres on January 17th, 2025.
Crypton Future Media developed the original Hatsune Miku vocal program on August 31st, 2007. Saki Fujita provided voice samples to bring her to life.
Our favorite idol and two of her new friends are as follows:
- Hatsune Miku — Saki Fujita (Skuld from Sword Art Online). A version of Miku whose song cannot reach people.
- Ichika Hoshino — Ruriko Noguchi (Sakura Chiyono O from Uma Musume Pretty Derby). Leo/need’s vocalist, guitarist, and lyricist who wishes to connect with others like Miku.
- Mafuyu Asahina — Rui Tanabe (Juri Ushimaki from Blue Archive). 25-ji, Nightcord de.’s lyricist who seeks a sense of identity and independence.
P.A. Works has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Project Sekai: the Miku Movie. Sega maintains a home page for the original Project Sekai Colorful Stage smartphone game, which includes a mysterious “noise” page. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals there. The posters show Miku isolated and alone, with her voice reaching no one.
Project Sekai: the Miku Movie Make Your Voice Heard
Ichika Hoshino is a second-year student at Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy and one of the founding members of Leo/need. She’s a street musician who loves to connect with others through music. Ichika also loves and admires Hatsune Miku. So, Ichika was surprised to hear a song she didn’t recognize. She followed the tune to a unique version of Hatsune Miku, one who could not connect with others. Miku can form a 3D projection from different screens to communicate with others.
The outside noise drowns out Miku’s voice, making her invisible to the people. Ichika offers to help Miku and recruits her friends to help their idol. United, they will connect with the hearts of those who love music.
