After a two-year wait, fans of Re:Zero can raise their voices and cheer: Season 3 is upon us! This season will adapt the fifth arc, Stars that Engrave History (Reikishi wo Kizamu Hoshiboshi). The trailer sets the stage for the battle Natsuki, Emilia, and their comrades will face.
Studio White Fox didn’t announce a premiere date at this time, so the wait continues just a bit longer. Until then, they were kind enough to give us a trailer to watch once more twice.
It’s worth pointing out that this trailer was released exactly two years from the day when Season 2 ended: March 25th, 2021.
The promotional home page and official Twitter page have been maintained from the previous seasons, so fans don’t need to renew their bookmarks. A new key visual was posted to celebrate the new season.
Priestella Lost to Darkness
The fifth arc of Re:Zero began with a ruined party. A year after Subaru arrived in Lugunica, Anastasia Hoshin, the head of the Hoshin Trading Company and a candidate to become the 42nd monarch of Lugunica, invited Emilia and others to Priestella to hold a party for the Camps participating in the Royal Selection. In what should have been a lovely affair to decide the new ruler, a group of party crashers arrived to ruin the fun. A group of incredibly powerful Sin Archbishops of the Witch Cult took control of the city. Subaru and his comrades set about uniting the Camps to save the town and prevent Regulus Corneas, the Sin Archbishop of Greed, from forcing Emilia to marry him.
Re:Zero Origins
Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World (Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, or Re: Life in a different world from zero) first isekaied a poor kid and gave him a cheat power to traumatize him for good as a light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki. He began to self-publish his novel to Shosetsuka ni Naro on April 20th, 2012.
Media Factory took up the publishing rights and brought on Shin’ichiro Otsuka to help adapt it to the light novel format. They began publishing this light novel series on January 24th, 2014, and have since printed 32 volumes, five side stories, and eight short story collections.
