If you’re one of those few people who didn’t watch the hit series Re: Zero when it first aired and you want to see what you missed, I have good news. If you’re one of the many who are anxiously awaiting news about the second season premiere season, I have amazing news. Either way, we’re all going to come out of this article as winners.
In an announcement made on the official website, the staff behind Re: Zero let loose two bombshells of news right before the holiday season! First off, the second season of the series will premiere in April 2020. Before that, however, a special re-edited airing of the entire first season will begin airing on January 1st, 2020! The re-edit of the first season will add in additional footage and run in one-hour episodes leading up to the premiere of season two in the spring. Additionally, it was revealed that the primary cast and staff will reprise their roles for the second season. Below is a very intense promotional video for season two.
Originally a light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka, Re: Zero exploded like dynamite when the anime adaptation premiered in April 2016. Featuring animation from studio White Fox and an attention-grabbing 50-minute first episode, it took zero time at all for fans to fall in love with this story and characters.
The anime series received a simulcast from Crunchyroll while the light novels have been licensed in English by Yen Press who describes the story as:
Subaru Natsuki was just trying to get to the convenience store but wound up summoned to another world. He encounters the usual things–life-threatening situations, silver haired beauties, cat fairies–you know, normal stuff. All that would be bad enough, but he’s also gained the most inconvenient magical ability of all–time travel, but he’s got to die to use it. How do you repay someone who saved your life when all you can do is die?
