Another poor, unfortunate soul has a new lease on life to do things his way. I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability (Tensei shitara Dainana Ouji Datta node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu) shows what happens when divinity really steps in to help someone unjustly executed. Our reincarnated mage doesn’t want a slow life this time. We’ll see how he uses his second chance when this anime series premieres sometime in April 2024. Let’s enjoy the trailer until then.
Kenkyo na Circle released the original Reincarnated as the 7th Prince novel on the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro on October 31st, 2019. Kodansha obtained the publishing rights and hired the artist Meru to adapt the series to the light novel format. Seven volumes have been published since this light novel was first released on July 2nd, 2020.
Our reincarnated mage and two of his companions are as follows:
- Lloyd de Saloum — Makoto Koichi (Reito Mizuhara from World’s End Harem). A studious mage who was reborn in the royal family. He desires to learn and master all forms of magic.
- Grim — Fairouz Ai (Power in Chainsaw Man). An ancient demon who wields a power that once nearly destroyed the kingdom. Lloyd subjugated him with overwhelming might.
- Sylpha — Lynn (Miyako Saito from Oshi no Ko). Lloyd’s dutiful maid and sword instructor. She — like the rest of the maids — positively adores him.

Reincarnated as the 7th Prince is set in a somehow fair and unfair world. Lloyd was born originally as a commoner with a great interest in magic. Some noblemen despised him for his status and claimed that only noblemen should attempt to wield magic. One of them then proceeded to burn him to death. One miserable life ended, only to begin anew as the seventh prince of the royal family.
Lloyd was born with incredible proficiency in magic. He could read complex tomes and cast powerful spells from an early age. Despite that, Lloyd is so far down the line of succession that no one considers him an heir to the throne. Lloyd is okay with that because he’s more interested in learning magic. But his lovely maid Sylpha won’t let him ignore his sword training. He was surrounded by magic tomes and maids who dote on him more than make up for his prior unfortunate life.
