For those who have missed out on the announcement, or our winter anime lineup, the latest trailer below will give you a taste of what is to come: a cute genderswap girl that will join the ranks of female Ranma/Ranko from Ranma 1/2, Riko Yusaki from To Love-Ru, female Naruto/Naruko from Naruto, and Natsuru Seno from Kampfer as a popular genderswap girl with many fans.
Studio Comet has also released the creditless opening for Reborn to Master the Blade, titled Day1, sung by AUO and featuring Win Morisaki.
They also shared the opening theme to the Reborn to Master the Blade official Twitter account, and their home page has even more series bonuses, such as these key art visuals.
The manga artist Moto Kuromura offered his own praise for the anime adaptation.
Reborn to Master the Blade features a somewhat unique ‘reborn and be super powerful’ story. The story follows Inglis, the titular Hero-King who forged a legend. With the blessings of a goddess, he became a divine knight and saved humanity from the forces of evil while founding a great kingdom. He lived a very long life, and on his deathbed, he speaks his regret to the goddess Alistia, conveying his wish to have focused more on his skills as a warrior. The goddess Alistia heard his words and sent his soul into the cycle of reincarnation.
Perhaps as a joke by the goddess, Inglis was reborn into a noble family, as their newest daughter. He adapted to his new life, and gender, to pursue his goal of mastering the blade. He retained his skills and power from his previous life and presented himself/herself as a genius of the blade and magic. Thus he/she will forge a new legend alongside his/her new friends.
Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire, known in Japan as Eiyū-Ō, Bu o Kiwameru Tame Tensei-Su: Soshite, Sekai Saikyō no Minarai Kishi (The Hero King, Reincarnated to Master Martial Arts — Thus Becoming the World’s Strongest Female Knight-in-Training) light novel series was written by Hayaken and illustrated by Nagu. It began serialization online in March of 2019, and continues to this day with a total of eight volumes released so far.
A manga adaptation with art by Moto Kuromura began its run in December of 2019, forming an ongoing series with four volumes released as of this writing.
For an interesting bit of trivia, the official Reborn to Master the Blade Twitter account, home page, and potentially the singer’s name are making use of a clever name pun: AUO, which is likely taken from the Japanese title Eiyū-Ō, as in Eiyū, A and U, which means ‘hero’, and Ō, which means ‘king’.
