Aniplex of America is making your dreams come true!
In a press release sent out on Friday, April 10th, Aniplex of America announced that the hit anime movie Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (which is a direct sequel to the popular television series Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai) will see its official North American home video release on June 30th, 2020. The Blu-ray release will be packed with extras including a special booklet with character reference guides, scene design materials, and storyboard artworks. It will include an exclusive package illustration by the original illustrator Keji Mizoguchi and character designer Satomi Tamura.
The cast and crew remain the same for both the television series and the movie, with Kaito Ishikawa and Asami Seto starring as Sakuta Azusagawa and Mai Sakurajima, respectively. The animation is produced by studio Cloverworks and features Soichi Masui returning as the director working off series composition by Masahiro Yokotani.

In Fujisawa, where the skies are bright and the seas glisten, Sakuta Azusagawa is in his second year of high school. His blissful days with his girlfriend and upperclassman, Mai Sakurajima, are interrupted with the appearance of his first crush, Shoko Makinohara. For reasons unknown, he encounters two Shokos: one in middle school and another who has become an adult.
As Sakuta finds himself helplessly living with Shoko, the adult Shoko leads him around by the nose, causing a huge rift in his relationship with Mai.
In the midst of all of this, he discovers that the middle school Shoko is suffering from a grave illness and his scar begins to throb…
A wonderful series that was an instant hit when it first premiered in October 2018, the follow-up movie of Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl has received equal amounts of critical and fan acclaim. Here’s to hoping that we all eventually get a second season in order to explore more of the fascinating relationship between Sakuta and Mai.
