Pokémon Day came and went with a blast or a whimper, depending on who you asked. Reception to a couple of trailers hasn’t been universally positive. I enjoyed them, though! Pokémon Legends: Z-A looks sweet! I have no idea whatsoever why they swapped Cyndaquil for Tepig. Still, we can catch Pokémon even after they lose all their HP. Old-school trainers like me have been begging for this feature for 29 years.
Game Freak (the Pokémon game development studio) fittingly celebrated the day with a special animated short. The first movie’s mail carrier Dragonite concept returned. A girl who has always admired the postman Dragonite lives out her ace mail carrier dreams. Discovering a letter without an address leads to a grand Pokémon adventure in Dragonite and the Mail Carrier (Kairyu to Yubinyasan).
Satoshi Tajiri collaborated with Tsunekazu Ishihara and Junichi Masuda to create the original Pokémon games, which debuted on February 27th, 1996. Kentaro Nana and Taku Kimura wrote this original Dragonite and the Mail Carrier animation with CoMix Wave Films.
The three mail carriers are as follows:
- Dragonite — Shinya Takahashi (Mailman from Spy x Family). A well-known mail carrier.
- Hana — Riko Fukumoto (Towa from Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken). A bright-eyed Pokémon trainer with a partner, Fuecoco. She dreams of being a postal carrier like Dragonite.
- Rio — Natsumi Fujiwara (Damian Desmond in Spy x Family). A boy who tried to celebrate a birthday.

I Choose You, Dragonite and the Mail Carrier!
Hana has long dreamed of becoming a postal officer like the local Dragonite who delivers the mail. This mighty Pokémon serves as the perfect postman for everyone in Paldea. A letter with no address comes into Hana’s possession. Her dream of becoming an ace mail carrier might just come true.
Hana and her Fuecoco find the original sender, a boy named Rio. He tried to send the letter to Kanto to celebrate his father’s birthday. That special day is today, and there’s no time to waste. Dragonite arrives to deliver the letter no matter what. A grand Pokémon adventure begins!
Besides that dragon-type adventure, a unique Pokémon is making a return! Pokémon Concierge Season 2 will premiere sometime in September 2025. Haru is a workaholic who becomes the new concierge at the Pokémon Resort. Her confidence slowly builds as she works at the resort.
