Plenty of anime enthusiasts were blown away by the premiere of No Guns Life back in October. The action-packed anime about a man named Juzo Inui with a gun for a head ran for 12 episodes before wrapping up in December, but fans were delighted to know that this was only the first half of a planned two-part run. Now, we know just when the series is set to return, as the official website for the anime has revealed that the 2nd half of the series is set to premiere on April 9th.
Fans in Japan will be able to catch the 2nd half of the manga-adaptation of No Guns Life on a variety of stations and platforms. The new set of episodes will first premiere on April 9th at 25:28 (or, April 10 at 1:28 am) on TBS, before later airing on AT-X, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11. The show will also be streamed online in Japan via Fuji on Demand. While plans for an overseas release of the series are not yet confirmed, Funimation streamed the first half of the show as it aired in Japan, and will likely do the same for the debuting 2nd half.
We’ve also learned info on the new opening and ending themes for the series. Legendary video game and anime composer Hiroyuki Sawano will collaborate through his vocal project “SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]” with MAN WITH A MISSION guitarist and vocalist Jean-Ken Johnny to perform the new opening song for No Guns Life, titled “Chaos Drifters.” The Japanese rock band This is Japan, meanwhile, will be performing the new ending theme “New World.” They’re a fairly recent group, having just made their major debut in February.
The staff from the first half of the series are all set to return for part two of No Guns Life. Naoyuki Itou, who directed Kanon, Kimi no Koe o Todoketai, and all three seasons of Overworld is directing the series at prolific anime studio Madhouse. Yukie Sugawara, who worked on Overlord, Kino’s Journey – The Beautiful World, and Hina Logic – from Luck & Logic, will be overseeing series scripts. Masanori Shino, the artist behind Black Lagoon, Gungrave, and the Digimon Adventure tri. films, will be designing the characters. Finally, Kenji Kawai will continue to compose music for the series, having previously worked on Patlabor, Ghost in the Shell, and Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
Here’s a description of the series, according to MyAnimeList:
The technology to create powerful cyborg soldiers has been released for public use by the Berühren Corporation. Those outfitted with robotic parts are known as the Extended. Juuzou Inui, one such Extended, was created as a soldier and has no memories of his former life. But now, after the war, he runs a business that takes care of Extended-related incidents around the city.
Rumors of a renegade Extended that kidnapped a child reach his ears; lo and behold, as Juuzo returns to his office, a giant robotic man with a boy on his back crashes in, asking for help. While Juuzou could just turn the guy in and be done with it, something about this situation is too fishy to ignore. It seems that everyone wants hold of this kid and, whether he likes it or not, Juuzou must find out why this Extended is on the run, how it connects to the Berühren Corporation, and just how far the treachery runs in this city.
