As the situation in Japan regarding COVID-19 begins to calm down and the country starts to phase out of a state of emergency, people across the nation are able to return to work in a somewhat normal fashion. For the entertainment industry, this means that television series can resume production after a flurry of sudden postponements and cancellations swept across the entire television landscape of Japan. The anime industry was hit especially hard, with highly anticipated films like Violet Evergarden: The Movie and Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel III spring song or upcoming television anime like Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- being indefinitely delayed. Now, though, these anime are beginning to get back on track and figure out new debut dates. One such project, the 2nd half of the television anime adaptation of Tasuku Karasuma’s No Guns Life manga, is officially set to premiere in July.
Originally, the 2nd half of No Guns Life was set to premiere in Japan this April. The sudden panic surrounding COVID-19 led to the anime being delayed suddenly, though, with no established return date in sight. Now, Japanese fans will be able to catch the series on TBS next month, although streaming alternatives and a global release have yet to be confirmed.
The staff from the first half of the No Guns Life anime adaptation are all set to return for part two of No Guns Life. Naoyuki Itou, who directed Kanon, Kimi no Koe o Todoketai, and all three seasons of Overworld is directing the series at prolific anime studio Madhouse. Yukie Sugawara, who worked on Overlord, Kino’s Journey – The Beautiful World, and Hina Logic – from Luck & Logic, will be overseeing series scripts. Masanori Shino, the artist behind Black Lagoon, Gungrave, and the Digimon Adventure tri. films, will be designing the characters. Finally, Kenji Kawai will continue to compose music for the series, having previously worked on Patlabor, Ghost in the Shell, and Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
