More Spy x Family makes any month into a wonderful month.
As usual, there will be a ton of new anime series vying for your attention over the next three months, but the one that stands head and shoulders above them all is the highly anticipated new season of Spy x Family. Can’t wait to see more of the Forger family in action? Here’s a brand new promotional video that introduces some of the plot beats of the new season. If you listen closely, you’ll also hear the new theme songs.
Ado (Uta in One Piece: Red) performs the opening theme song, titled “Kurakura (Light-Headed)”. Not only that though, the lyrics were composed by singer/songwriter meiyo while the famed band SEATBELTS along with Yoko Kanno herself provided the music. It seems this series is going all out this season to impress hardcore fans. Meanwhile, Vaundy performs the ending theme, “Todome no Ichigeki (The Final Blow)”.
The second season of Spy x Family is set to premiere on October 7th in Japan. It’s going to be filled with the same excellent found family comedy and action that you’ve enjoyed so far. The cast and crew are returning to their original roles for the sequel, which means more wonderful animation from Wit Studio and Cloverworks.
It’s also worth noting that this is not the only dosing of Spy x Family we’ll get before the end of the year, as a brand new original story movie has already been announced. It will premiere in Japan before the end of the year. While we still don’t know the story details regarding the movie, stay tuned to the J-List blog for more information as it becomes available.
Viz Media publishes the original manga in English both in print and on the Shonen Jump website. They describe the initial story as:
Master spy Twilight is the best at what he does when it comes to going undercover on dangerous missions in the name of a better world. But when he receives the ultimate impossible assignment—get married and have a kid—he may finally be in over his head!
Not one to depend on others, Twilight has his work cut out for him procuring both a wife and a child for his mission to infiltrate an elite private school. What he doesn’t know is that the wife he’s chosen is an assassin and the child he’s adopted is a telepath!
