Netflix is bound and determined to compete against the major players within the anime streaming sphere! Need proof? During their Netflix Anime Festival 2020 live stream, they revealed details of sixteen different anime titles that are in various stages of production, right now, as this post is being typed. And we’re going to break them all down starting… right now, in roughly the order that they were discussed on the stream.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

Set to premiere in 2021, Vampire in the Garden is an original new series from WIT Studio and will feature Ryotaro Makihara as director. It tells the story of Momo and Fine, a girl and a vampire who are searching for ‘Paradise’.
Yasuke

Produced by studio MAPPA and directed by LeSean Thomas, this series will feature a black samurai named Yasuke in the starring role. The story starts with Yasuke trying to live a peaceful life in the warring states period until circumstances force him to take up his sword once again.
Godzilla: Singular Point

A brand new key visual and trailer were released for the recently announced Godzilla: Singular Point, which will feature animation from studios Bones and Orange. The story will feature a young female researcher and a young male engineer as they face incredible danger. Directed by Atsushi Takahashi working off scripts written by Toh Enjoe and character designs from the manga author Kazue Kato (Blue Exorcist), Godzilla: Singular Point will debut on Netflix in 2021.
Pacific Rim: The Black

Another one set to be released in 2021, this series has been a long time coming and yet all they had to show for their efforts were a couple of key visuals which you can see in the tweet above. Quite disappointing, but we’ll share more when we have more information.

Another rare find, as this series is not only based in Manila but will also be produced entirely in the Philippines by BASE Entertainment. In this series, the heroine is a girl named Alexandra Trese who is going up against the underworld, which is made up of supernatural beings. It’ll be released in 2021.
B the Beginning Succession

The second season of B the Beginning is set to air at some point in 2021, with the subtitle B the Beginning Succession. You can see the first images from the new season in the above tweet and we also learned that this season will feature a new staff member in the form of Ichiro Kawasaki taking over as director at animation studio Production I.G. Kazuto Nakazawa will serve as supervising director.

The third season of one of the more intense fighting series of the last few years comes to a head. Subtitled ‘Son of Ogre’, this season will feature Baki going up against his father. Scheduled to be released at some point in 2021, the only “new detail” we got about this one was a special illustration drawn by Keisuke Itagaki.
Eden

Scheduled to hit the streaming service in May 2021, Eden is an interesting “odd man out” in that it will only be four episodes long which means that the two-minute trailer posted in the above tweet should give a pretty solid grasp of what this series will be about; a young girl who is learning how to face the world. The series will feature animation from Qubic Pictures and is directed by Yasuhiro Irie.
Thermae Romae Novae

A new announcement revealed towards the end of the live stream, this anime series which adapts the story from the manga created by Miura Tsuina and Takahiro Oba, High Rise Invasion will premiere in February 2021. You can see the very first trailer in the tweet above.
Along with that tidbit of info, it was also revealed that the series will feature animation from studio Zero-G with Masahiro Takata serving as the director, working off series composition by Toko Machida.

Something quickly for the young and young at heart is a continuation of a stop motion series put together by dwarf studios. Sadly, no details were revealed for the new season, not even a rough premiere date.

Another four-episode series, but this time it’s a spinoff from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. With animation production by david production and director Toshiyuki Kato, this bizarre OVA series will feature a side story based on an experience that the artist, from Diamond is Unbreakable, Kishibe Rohan, had while collecting materials for the manga.
The Way of the Househusband

Starting as a manga before getting a live-action television adaptation, now The Way of the Househusband will be an anime series from studio J.C. Staff with Chiaki Kon serving as director. The actor who portrayed Immortal Tatsu in the manga promotional video that was released earlier this year will return to play the role in the anime.

This is an announcement that took everyone by surprise when it hit earlier this month! A remake of the popular series from more than a couple of decades ago, a brand new trailer was released for the series which is set to premiere in 2021. It will be produced by david productions with Hiroshi Kobayashi serving as director and working off series composition by Hiroshi Seko.
