History tells us that the Hero Sid saved the world during the Great War of the Five Races. However, history has changed, and Sid never existed. Naze Boku no Sekai wo Dare mo Oboeteinainoka? (Why Nobody Remembers My World?) shows us what happens when humanity’s fate is changed. We’ll see how the new hero, Kai, does in battle when this anime series premieres sometime in July 2024. Let’s enjoy the reality-warping trailer until then.
Kei Sazane and neco worked on the original Naze Boku light novel between July 25th, 2017, and August 25th, 2020. Media Factory published all nine volumes in the MF Bunko J imprint.
Our battle-weary heroes are as follows:
- Kai — Shoya Chiba (Yu from Fire Force). One of the last people who remember the original timeline. Kai takes up Sid’s power and role as the hero of humanity.
- Rinne — Kana Ichinose (Suletta Mercury from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury). A winged girl who was trapped by the demon hero Vanessa. Kai freed her using Sid’s light sword.
- Jeanne — Haruka Shiraishi (Chitose Shirakawa from The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten). Kai’s childhood friend and potential love interest. She remains a decorated hero in the new timeline, though she does not remember Kai.
- Saki — Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi from Bocchi the Rock!). One of Kai’s close friends in the original timeline. Her kindness has ensured that they remain friends even in the new timeline.
- Ashuran — Seiichiro Yamashita (Adventurer B from Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?). Kai’s close friend. Their partnership persists in the new timeline, even though Ashuran doesn’t remember him.
Project No.9 has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Naze Boku. You can find additional series information and the Key Visuals there.
History is Rewritten in Naze Boku
The world of Naze Boku saw an age of peace after the great Hero Sid fought on behalf of humanity during the Great War of the Five Races. The demons, the divine barbarians, the spirits, the mythical beasts, and the humans waged war against one another. The humans were at a disadvantage, but Sid led humanity to victory and sealed away the other four races in black pyramids called graveyards. His legend became a myth, and some dispute his very existence. The soldier Kai, who trains daily in case the other four races reemerge, believes Sid existed in the past. Indeed, he hopes to one day find Sid’s legendary sword of light, the Code Holder.
Kai’s idyllic life was shattered when his childhood friend Jeanne confessed her feelings to him. A voice spoke of rewriting the world. The city around him was in ruins, and his former friends had never heard of him. Ashuran and Saki, his best friends, gave him a ride to their hidden base. Sid was missing from history, and his victory was undone. Humanity was on the brink of oblivion. That’s when Kai returned to the demon’s graveyard and found Sid’s legendary blade and a woman who resembled an angel chained to a pillar.
