One series that I am enjoying more than I ever expected to this season is My Dress-Up Darling. From episode one, this series has been charming the pants off of me and it seems that I am not alone in that assessment. In a tweet sent out on the anime’s official account, the staff revealed that since the anime started airing last month, the original manga has added one million copies to its worldwide circulation (including physical and digital). This brings the grand total number of volumes being circulated around the world up to 4.5 million!

As you can see in the tweet above, the manga’s author re-tweeted the initial message and added his own thanks, along with the animation staff’s, to all the fans around the world who have bought a copy since the start of the anime series.
Originally a manga series created by Shinichi Fukuda, My Dress-Up Darling (Japanese title: Sono Bisuku Dōru wa Koi o Suru) has been serialized under the Young Gangan imprint in Japan since January 2018 and is up to eight volumes as of October 2021. The English version is published under the Square Enix Manga & Books imprint and is up to four volumes as of June 2021.
In this amazing series, the main character is a high school student named Gojo Wakana who is studying to become a hina doll craftsman like his grandfather. Unfortunately, an incident with a friend during his childhood left him shy about sharing his dream with others, and he spends most of his time alone.
One day, he meets a girl from his class named Marin Kitagawa who is actually a full-blown otaku who desperately wants to cosplay as her favorite character but doesn’t have the slightest idea how to sew. When she learns Gojo knows how to create clothing for dolls, she enlists his help and attempts to pull him out of his shell and into her world of geek media.
