It’s always nice to make new friends. The stranger and friendlier, the better. My Deer Friend Nokotan (Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan) presents a bizarre friendship pairing: a former delinquent and a deer girl. Yes, a girl with antlers, strange tendencies, and an affinity for deer crackers. One girl has secrets to hide, and the other doesn’t try to hide anything. We’ll see how these two get along when this anime series premieres on July 7th, 2024. Let’s enjoy the strange trailer until then.
Oshioshio released the original My Deer Friend Nokotan manga series on November 15th, 2019. Kodansha has since released four volumes in the Magazine Edge KC imprint.
The former delinquent and her new deer friend are as follows:
- Torako Koshi — Saki Fujita (Skuld from Sword Art Online). A former delinquent who put her past behind her to become a school idol who regularly achieves top marks in everything she does. She would prefer that no one discovered her violent history.
- Noko Shikanoko — Megumi Han (Penny Polendina from RWBY: Ice Queendom). A friendly deer girl who quickly discovered Torako’s hidden past. She has several strange tendencies that endear her to others.
- Anko Koshi — Rui Tanabe (Royce and Royce from Uma Musume Pretty Derby). Torako’s younger sister and a complete siscon. She considers anyone who gets close to her sister an enemy.

My Deer Friend Nokotan and the Former Delinquent
Torako used to be a fierce and frightening delinquent. She had her own gang and a bat that saw frequent use. However, she chose to change her persona into someone far more appealing. She had become a school idol who excelled at almost everything by the time My Deer Friend Nokotan began. It seemed as though Torako had completely buried her more violent past. However, a new student with strange antlers transferred to her class and immediately identified Torako as a delinquent.
Noko is a deer girl. She has the antlers and deer crackers to prove it. Those antlers aren’t attached to a headband, either. Noko literally snapped one off to prove it. She’s a strange girl who somehow formed a bond with a delinquent.
