Mission: Yozakura Family (Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen) is another series with a family of assassins coming to our screens. Please don’t confuse it with Yozakura Quartet. Those who delight in Spy x Family might find something to enjoy here. It’s more shounen than Spy x Family, and I don’t think any assassin waifu can match up to Yor Forger, but we have a fun family with cute girls who smite evil. We’ll see how this family of spies and assassins gets along when the series premieres sometime in April 2024. Until then, let’s enjoy the action-packed trailer.
Hitsuji Gondaira first released his Mission: Yozakura Family manga series on August 26th, 2019. Shueisha has since released twenty volumes in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Our determined newlyweds and their brother with a sister complex are as follows:
- Taiyo Asano — Reiji Kawashima (Finn Ames from Mashle). An unfortunate soul who lost his family at a young age. A fear of losing more people prevents him from getting close to others.
- Mutsumi Yozakura — Kaede Hondo (Shigeru Kamado from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). Taiyo’s childhood friend who works to heal his emotional turmoil. She also leads her family of spies.
- Kyoichiro Yozakura — Katsuyuki Konishi (Diavolo / King Crimson from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure). Mutsumi’s overprotective older brother. A mistake in the past nearly cost Mutsumi her life, so he goes out of his way to protect her from everyone and everything.

Mission: Yozakura Family Begins
A tale of tragedy has the potential to become one of triumph. Mission: Yozakura Family follows an orphan who finds a new family to love him. Taiyo Asano lost his family in a terrible accident. Such pain caused him to withdraw from others. If he doesn’t get close to anyone else, they can’t leave him, and he won’t be hurt again. His childhood friend, Mutsumi Yozakura, is the only one who can get through to him, and she usually does that by ignoring his timid protests.
Mutsumi’s older brother, Kyoichiro Yozakura, is too protective of her. Granted, he made a mistake in the past that nearly ended Mutsumi’s life, and he feels terrible about it, but he’s taken it too far. The rest of the Yozakura family stepped in when he pulled a knife on Taiyo because the two childhood friends were too close for his comfort. Though they fought Kyoichiro, he defeated them all and threatened to keep Mutsumi home indefinitely. Taiyo stepped forward and agreed to the original plan to prevent a battle: marry Mutsumi and join the Yozakura family. Family doesn’t hurt family, after all. He’ll uncover with them various dark secrets and face danger worse than even Kyoichiro.
