It’s not often that older people meet Truck-kun. Times are changing, and an older man embarks on a new life in another world. A kind and proper Japanese man must navigate an otome game world as the villainess. We’ll see how he does when the Akuyaku Reijo Tensei Oji-san (The Old Guy’s Reincarnation as the Villainess Daughter) anime series premieres sometime in January 2025.
Michiro Ueyama released the original Akuyaku Reijo Tensei Oji-san manga series on March 16th, 2020. Shonen Gahosha published seven volumes in Young King Ours GH afterward.
The kind civil servant and the cruel villainess are as follows:
- Kenzaburo Tondabayashi — Kazuhiko Inoue (Gildarts Clive from Fairy Tail). A 52-year-old Japanese civil servant who must now act like a villainess.
- Grace Auvergne — M・A・O (Fumika Sagisawa from The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls). The notorious daughter of Duke Auvergne and the villainess of the otome game.
Ajia-do Animation Works has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Akuyaku Reijo Tensei Oji-san. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals there. The kind older man does his best to keep pace with things.
The Old Man Within the Villainess, Akuyaku Reijo Tensei Oji-san
52-year-old Kenzaburo Tondabayashi is a hard-working civil servant. He is a kind and proper man who does his best at work and home. His final act was pushing a child out of the way of an incoming truck. Kenzaburo awoke in another world. He had become Grace Auvergne, the villainess of his daughter’s favorite otome game, Magical Academy: Love & Beast. Hinako told him all about the mean girl who always got in the way of the protagonists.
Kenzaburo is an otaku, like his daughter, so he knows about certain tropes and archetypes. He had planned to follow the story he heard from his daughter’s explanations. But his naturally kind and calm demeanor causes him to act in ways that endear him to the protagonists. Rather than bully the protagonist, Anna, on her first day of school, Kenzaburo (as Grace) offered praise for her hard-working parents and encouragement for a successful school life. The otome story may change just like this.
