It may feel like yesterday for some and ages ago for others, but the incredibly light-hearted and gorgeously animated series Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! debuted back in January of this year, running until March 22nd. The irreverent anime about a trio of high-school girls who band together to make their own anime took the Internet by storm. The rabid success of the series was enough to warrant a pair of intriguing live-action adaptations, with a live-action film and TV series version of the story announced earlier this year. The six-episode television series debuted on April 5th in Japan, but the film, which was originally scheduled to premiere on May 15th, faced a sudden delay due to the threat of the coronavirus disease. Now, fans will be able to catch the film in Japan when it premieres on its new opening date of September 25th.
Nogizaka46 idol group members Minami Umezawa, Asuka Saito, and Mizuki Yamashita star in the live-action Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! project as the main trio of the series. They also lend their musical talents to the live-action Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! film by performing the theme song, titled “Fantastic Sanshoku Pan” (Fantastic Three-Filling Bun). Other cast members include Sakurako Konishi as student council president Tōru Dōtonbori, Ema Grace as student council secretary Sowande Sakaki, Riko Fukumoto as attack squad leader Hisashi Ashima, Ryō Matsuzaki as student council treasurer Shunya Ō, Suzunosuke as Kuroda, Masayuki Deai as Asakasa, and Masahiro Takashima as Fujimoto-sensei.
Here’s a description of the Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! anime series, according to Crunchyroll:
First year high schooler Midori Asakusa loves anime so much, she insists that “concept is everything” in animation. Though she draws a variety of ideas in her sketchbook, she hasn’t taken the first step to creating anime, insisting that she can’t do it alone. The producer-type Sayaka Kanamori is the first to notice Asakusa’s genius. Then, when it becomes clear that their classmate, charismatic fashion model Tsubame Mizusaki, really wants to be an animator, they create an animation club to realize the “ultimate world” that exists in their minds.
