Lazarus Fights the Poisoned Cure

Lazarus proves that you should, in fact, look a gift horse in the mouth. If it’s too good to be true, it generally is. A brilliant doctor announced his discovery to the world: a miracle cure that would benefit humanity. Whereas his first announcement brought hope to the world, his second would bring nothing but despair. A team has been formed to hunt the doctor and avert a global tragedy. We’ll see if they succeed when Lazarus premieres on April 6th, 2025.

Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop) is directing Lazarus for studio MAPPA. Chad Stahelski (John Wick) is directing the action sequences.

Three of our elite agents are as follows:

Axel — Mamoru Miyano (Doma from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). A parkour specialist from Brazil. His frequent prison escapes have made him famous.
Christine — Maaya Uchida (Kaguya Yamai in Date A Live). An expert marksman and weapons specialist from Russia. She’s an optimist with a rough personality and a love of alcohol.
Eleina — Manaka Iwami (Linie from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End). A hacker from Hong Kong. Her computer skills more than make up for her lack of communication skills.

Lazarus Hunts the Cursed Cure

Dr. Skinner is a noted neuroscientist whose recent discovery swept over the world. He introduced a miracle cure-all known as Hapna. By 2052, its efficacy has made it a part of everyday life. There isn’t anything that Hapna can’t cure and Dr. Skinner’s work allowed an age of peace and prosperity to dawn. He silently slipped from the public eye to a chorus of praise and reverence.

The good doctor reappeared three years later with a horrifying announcement. Hapna was not simply a cure; it was a Trojan horse. Hapna contained a time-delayed aspect: anyone who took it would die within three years. The world erupted into chaos and anguish. An elite team was quickly put together to find Dr. Skinner and find an antidote to Hapna before time ran out.
