The best girl of KonoSuba, Megumin, is finally getting her own anime series where she can use Explosion as much as she wants. Of course we’d get more from such a well-regarded series. KonoSuba An Explosion on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen wo!) is a prequel series that takes place a year before Kazuma Satou and Aqua, the NEET and useless goddess, appear in the Kingdom of Belzerg. At that time, Megumin continues her studies to wield the most powerful offensive magic.
The series is set to air on April 5th, so this trailer will have to tide fans over until then.
Studio Drive, who took over from Studio Deen starting with season 3 of the main KonoSuba series, will also be adapting KonoSuba An Explosion on This Wonderful World!. The main home page and official Twitter account previously used for KonoSuba will now have information about this prequel series. Megumin’s Journey to Master Explosion
As stated, KonoSuba An Explosion on This Wonderful World! takes place a year before Kazuma dies and gets himself and Aqua sent to another world. An incident in early childhood where Megumin saw a powerful wizard use an explosive spell compelled her to follow the same path and focus solely on explosion magic. Though she’s warned by other wizards in her Crimson Magic Clan that focusing only on that type of spell is a limited and weak path of magic, and she should have a more well-rounded background, Megumin is confident that mastering offensive magic would make her powerful, and gain her a sexy body in the process.
The trailer seen above highlights the mesmerizing situation she saw in her youth, her arguments with others in her clan, her bond with her friends, and the cute familiar Chomusuke, who happens to be the other half of the goddess Wolbach.
KonoSuba An Explosion on This Wonderful World! Origins
The original series, KonoSuba, started as a novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki. It was first posted to the user site Shosetsuka ni Naro. It ran from December 20th, 2012 to October 21th, 2013, in six volumes.
KonoSuba was later picked up by Kadokawa Shoten and turned into a light novel series, with Kurone Mishima providing the illustrations. This new series ran from October 1st, 2013 to May 1st, 2020, in a total of seventeen volumes. The various adaptations could have their own article, there are a lot of them. Manga, anime, video games — KonoSuba has it all.
KonoSuba An Explosion on This Wonderful World!, a prequel to the main series, saw Natsume Akatsuki team up with artist Kurone Mishima to show fans what Megumin was up to before she joined Kazuma’s party. Kadokawa Shoten published this series between July 1st, 2014 and June 1st, 2015, in a total of three volumes.
