This past weekend was a big one for the Kaguya-sama: Love is War franchise, particularly for fans of the anime adaptation. On Saturday, November 20th, fans who attended Anime NYC had the opportunity to see a special preview of the upcoming movie, Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The First Kiss That Never Ends –, but then just a day later a brand new promotional video began streaming on the official website (which previews the theme song, Love is Show, performed by the returning Masayuki Suzuki) and Aniplex of America revealed when fans in the United States would get to experience the movie for themselves!
Warning: The story for the movie takes place after the events of season three. If you’re not caught up on the television series, you might not want to watch this video.
While we’ve known for a while that the movie is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on December 17th, 2022, there are still legions of fans outside of Japan eager to find out when they will experience the next part of this story for themselves. While global plans have yet to be unveiled, Aniplex of America took to Twitter on Sunday, November 20th to reveal that Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The First Kiss That Never Ends – will hit theaters in the United States in February 2023. No details regarding which theaters will screen the movie or when tickets will go on sale were revealed.
While the original manga debuted in Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015, the first season of the anime adaptation didn’t premiere until January 2019. From that point forward, they have produced new seasons almost annually, which led up to the hour-long third season finale that gave fans almost everything they could have wanted after waiting patiently for 37 episodes. With much more story to go through (the manga just ended its run in early November 2022), it seems likely that anime-only fans are going to have to wait longer to see the grand conclusion on their screens.
