This is one of those stories where it’s awesome to be the one to get to report on the news because I guarantee the reactions to be all over the place. Some of you are going to cheer and some of you are going to roll your eyes. Regardless, everyone will have an opinion!
In a new promotional video that hit the internet on Thursday, October 21st, it was revealed that season three of Kaguya-sama: Love is War will premiere in the spring 2022 season. The returning cast and crew were also announced. The title of the third season will be Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai -Ultra Romantic-.
Now before you sit down to watch this promotional video, you should probably go fix yourself a snack and get comfortable. Maybe even use the restroom. Why? Because the staff behind this franchise didn’t just create a 90-second video that shows off a couple of choice highlights from the coming season. No, they created a ten-minute-long promotional video which fans will want to sit through every last second of.
Now here’s the part where I make a confession: I originally, once upon a time, hated this series because I thought it was endless “will they/won’t they” shenanigans. It wasn’t until I was challenged to watch this series from start to finish for a podcast that I realized what I was missing out on. This series is so much more than just a couple of thick-skulled teenagers, this is an ensemble piece that is so much better with the additions that the supporting cast members make.
Having recently entered its final manga arc, this news certainly could not have been a mere coincidence. The production committee behind Kaguya-sama definitely knows what they are doing by striking while the iron is red hot! 2022 is shaping up to be a killer year for anime and we haven’t even started yet!
