Ask any hardcore anime fan what one of the must-watch shows of this year has been, and they’ll likely reply with Kaguya-sama: Love is War. When the first season of this incredible anime adaptation of Aka Akasaka’s manga Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunōsen debuted last year, it took the anime community by storm with its stellar visuals, sharp gags, and incredible voice acting. Season two only upped the ante in all of those departments, delivering an even more unforgettable romantic comedy experience. Breakout hits like these often get an English dub right away, but it’s only now that the series is being treated to an English audio adaptation, thanks to Funimation.
Announced on the official Funimation blog, the English dub for season two of Kaguya-sama: Love is War kicks off this week, with the first episode having already premiered on Saturday, July 25th. The full lineup of confirmed voice actors for the English dub is as follows:
- Alexis Tipton as Kaguya Shinomiya
- Aaron Dismuke as Miyuki Shirogane
- Jad Saxton as Chika Fujiwara
- Austin Tindle as Yu Ishigami
- Amanda Lee as Hayasaka
- Bryn Apprill as Nagisa
- Brandon McInnis as Kashiwagi’s Boyfriend
- Ian Sinclair as Narrator
Awkwardly enough, the blog post announcing the dub for season two of Kaguya-sama: Love is War makes no mention of season one. Thankfully, a clarification tweet from the official Funimation Twitter account shared that a dub of season one is coming sometime later.
Many of the staff from the first season of Kaguya-sama: Love is War returned for this new season. Mamoru Hatakeyama directed the sequel season, while Yasuhiro Nakanishi served as the script supervisor and Yuko Yahiro returned as the character designer. Kei Haneoka also returned to compose music for the series, and the anime was once again produced by A-1 Pictures. Returning Japanese cast members included Aoi Koga as Kaguya Shinomiya, Makoto Furukawa as Miyuki Shirogane, Konomi Kohara as Chika Fujiwara, and Ryōta Suzuki as Yū Ishigami.
