From what’s known, the upcoming issue containing the grand finale will feature a special 12-page booklet, a special interview between cosplayer Enako and the author, a colored manga page, and the lead characters front-and-center to commemorate this event. Meanwhile, few seem more excited to see the conclusion than Akasaka himself, who’s quoted by Weekly Jump as saying:
“I want to see their love story through… A long romantic comedy that has been serialized for 7 years… is now complete!”
Kaguya-sama: Love is War is a romantic comedy following the escapades of hardworking student council president Miyuki Shirogane, the similarly talented yet ultra-wealthy vice president Kaguya Shinomiya, and their friends in Shuchiin Academy, as they try to win each others’ hearts. As simple as that premise sounds, it does little justice to how the mangaka turns that basic setup on its head, creating one of the most unique, hilarious, and spirited stories of its kind out there. Though don’t take my word for it! J-List‘s Peter Payne has time and again shown how adorable yet amazing both the manga and A-1 Pictures’ anime adaptation is, from the crisp production values down to the lovable characters. It’s also not for nothing that it’s even one of the winners of the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2020.
As for how Kaguya-sama will end? You’ll find out soon enough. Though now is as good a time as any to delve into the amazing series!
