Plenty of industries are beginning to slowly recover from and work around the disastrous effects that COVID-19 has had on the world. While plenty of anime, television series, video games, and films had been suddenly postponed in the first few months of the rapid spread of the virus, those types of projects are back in swing and moving down the pipeline again. One industry that has yet to recover from the spread of coronavirus, though, is the music industry. In-person concerts still aren’t possible yet, especially in plenty of areas in North America where new COVID-19 cases and deaths are only increasing. We’ve seen a number of massive Japanese bands cancel their North American tour plans because of this, like FLOW and Radwimps. Now, another Japanese rock band has made that move, as all-girl rock group SCANDAL confirms that they’ll be postponing their North American tour to November 2021.
While fans of the talented rock band will potentially have to wait over a year to see them in person now, you can still attend a SCANDAL concert this year via livestream. The band is having its debut livestream concert on August 21st, with tickets for the event currently on sale for $30 at LiveFrom.
SCANDAL shared a statement concerning their postponed North American tour, which was originally planned for September 17-23 of this year:
We are very saddened by the fact that our World Tour that was supposed to take place this year has been postponed. However, we are very excited about our first worldwide livestream concert! Our tour was going to visit more than 30 cities in the world, so we are working very hard to put all of our energy and passion into this one night, so that we can bring you the very best of SCANDAL!! Even though the concept of a livestream concert is very new to us, seeing and hearing all of your positive comments, like “Everyone is in the first row!” or “Venue capacities are unlimited!” is so uplifting. We can’t wait to make some great memories with our fans from all over the world on August 21st!
SCANDAL has a massive library of anime theme song performances in their discography. They’ve performed tracks for Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Loups-Garous, Star Driver, GeGeGe no Kitarō, and Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction.
