Island of Giant Insects Reveals 2020 Theatrical Anime

At the special OVA screening of The Island of Giant Insects, held at Crunchyroll Expo this year, it was revealed that the manga series would be getting a full theatrical anime movie to be released in Japan at some point in 2020. A 65-second preview video that introduces the characters and the giant insects they will be facing off against was shared with the audience, which should whet the appetites of horror fans around the world. 

The OVA shipped in June with the sixth compiled manga volume and Crunchyroll plans to stream it worldwide outside of Asia at an unspecified later date. 

The survival horror story follows a group who were all flying somewhere for a school trip when their plane goes down. The survivors of the crash find themselves on a deserted island that is ruled by giant insects that aren’t afraid to make humans into their next meal. 

From the looks of things, this is going to be a very bloody and gruesome adventure for the survivors of the ill-fated airplane trip. The question is how many characters introduced in that trailer will live long enough for a rescue operation to find them? Will you be tuning in to find out?
