Sound the alarms, it’s new anime announcement day!
Set to premiere in 2023, the new anime we’re talking about today is an isekai titled My One-Hit Kill Sister (Japanese title: Isekai One Turn Kill Nee-san: Ane Dо̄han no Isekai Seikatsu Hajimemashita or literally One Turn Kill Sister in Another World: I Started Living in Another World with My Older Sister) and we have all the details!
In this series, the main character is a high school student named Asahi Ikusaba (played by Yuki Sakakihara) who finds himself in a new fantasy world. The problem is that despite having knowledge of video games from his previous world, in this new world he has no actual “cheat” skills or abilities of his own. Eventually he finds his older sister Maya (played by Haruka Shiraishi) who happens to not only have the strongest “cheat” skill in the world but also a very strong brother complex.
Ready to find out who is bringing this series to life? Alright, let’s dive right in!
Producing the animation will be studio Gekkō (don’t worry if you’ve never heard of them as this is their debut production) with Hiroaki Takagi serving as the director. He’ll be working off scripts written by Yōhei Kashii and character designs adapted for animation by Yūji Hamada. Crunchyroll has already announced that they will simulcast the series when it premieres in 2023.
What’s really interesting about this series is that, while it’s adapting a light novel series that started on the popular Japanese website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, My One Turn Kill Sister hasn’t actually been physically published as yet. It has a manga adaptation that just released its seventh volume in Japan. Still, as stated, I find it interesting that the light novel has yet to find a publishing deal even though it’s getting an anime adaptation.
