The second season for In Another World With My Smartphone (Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni) is upon us, April 3rd, and J.C.Staff has released a trailer to tide fans of this isekai series over until the premiere date. Fans will see Touya return with a new weapon, new enemies, and surrounded by girls eager to be with him.

God (Accidentally) Taketh Away, and God Giveth
In Another World With My Smartphone is another entry in the long-running isekai genre in which (like other isekai series) a lucky guy gets sent to a fantasy world where he can enjoy his isekai life to the fullest. Still, this one is unique because he gets to keep his smartphone and use its modern-world features. I hesitate to think about the bill he’s been racking up. The roaming charges alone, sheesh.
For those new to In Another World With My Smartphone, the series follows Touya Mochizuki, a typical guy from modern-day Japan. God accidentally kills him on the spot. To make things up to the mortal He accidentally smote, God offers Touya a free resurrection in another world, with the caveat that Touya can’t return to his original world. God will send the mortal he struck down to a fantasy world with any special requests Touya might have.
Touya is brought to the new world with a new and vastly improved body. Besides being granted the gift of magic and superior physical strength, God let Touya take his smartphone. God modified it to allow him access to a GPS, information from his old world, and the ability to keep it charged with magic. His first place to go on quests is the Kingdom of Belfast, where he finds his destiny.
In Another World With My Smartphone Origins
In Another World With My Smartphone began as a light novel series written by Patora Fuyuhara and illustrated by Eiji Usatsuka. He began publishing the series on the user-generated novel publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro website in 2013, until Hobby Japan stepped in and acquired the rights on May 22nd, 2015, publishing 27 volumes thus far.
The anime adaptation of In Another World With My Smartphone began on July 11th, 2017, with Production Reed taking up the task. The first season consisted of twelve episodes. As stated above, J.C.Staff took over animation for the second season. By all accounts, the author Patora Fuyuhara seems happy with the series, as indicated by his recent tweet praising Rosetta’s design.
